For working mothers taking maternity leave there is a reality: going on leave is the easy part, returning after leave is trickier.
So, we’d like to give a big shout out to our client Goldman Sachs for thinking about both sides of the equation.
Goldman Sachs: showing the professional services sector how it’s done
The global professional services organisation made news recently not just for being one of the first corporate firms to introduce an onsite workplace nursery at its central London office but to also enable new mothers returning to work after the birth of a child to ship breast milk to their babies at home if they’re travelling.
“Parenting and work can sometimes feel at odds", reads Goldman Sachs’ internal memo. “Goldman Sachs aim[s] to make the balancing act a little easier”.
The firm's new initiative will reimburse mothers who are travelling for business for breast milk delivery costs and deliver freezing kits so that the milk can be easily transported home.
What Goldman Sachs leadership has to say:
“We continuously look to provide our people with programs and services to support them in navigating the day-to-day issues that arise while empowering them with the tools to be successful at home and at work."
What a way to truly support your workforce. We are very proud to work with you, Goldman Sachs – an organisation which recognises its people as its greatest asset and is committed to maximising individual potential.
