Title: Delivering the People Plan – Effective Innovations to Reduce Agency and Bank Spend Summary

Tuesday, April 29 · 11:30am - 12:30pm

In the national planning guidance for 2025/26 NHS service providers have been tasked with increasing productivity (by 4%) while also delivering cost savings. These two asks are creating a tension within the service that is difficult to resolve.

Workforce targets are focused on a reduction in spending on agency and bank spend and on delivering reductions in elective wait lists.

One option is to enable the workforce to deliver more whilst reducing the reliance on agency and bank. But this can only be achieved by providing effective support to staff that enables them to work where and when they can – with a focus on wellbeing and engagement at the same time.
