Why we exist

Bright Horizons wasn't founded as a benefits company. It was founded in 1986 by Roger and Linda Brown, who'd spent enough time in international development work to see one pattern repeating: the single biggest predictor of whether a parent thrives at work is whether the care for their family is in place.

That insight — that a person's family life and their work life are the same life — has shaped everything we've built since. Our nurseries. Our Back-Up Care platform. The Modern Families Index. The Bright Horizons Foundation. The way we hire coaches. The way we train them.

We don't sell wellbeing. We don't sell benefits in the abstract. We help employers do something specific and measurable: remove the barriers that stop working parents and carers from doing their best work. That's been our job for three decades. It still is.
