RAF Northolt and Workplace Nursery Partnerships: Client Story

RAF Northolt, an integral part of the UK Royal Air Force, plays a pivotal role in upholding the standards of a world-class air force. With a growing community exceeding 2,000 personnel and its strategic designation as a "Core Defence Site," RAF Northolt faced the challenge of accommodating an increased number of service personnel due to organisational changes. These changes underscored the inadequacy of the existing nursery facilities in meeting the station's evolving requirements.

In response to this challenge, RAF Northolt embarked on a collaborative project with Bright Horizons to establish a new nursery facility. The selection of a management partner, achieved through a competitive tender process, emphasized the need for a commitment to high-quality early years care and education, coupled with an affordable fee structure. The RAF and MoD Defence Estates also sought a partner with nationwide reach and the capability to manage the financial risks associated with nursery operations. Bright Horizons was able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the specific security needs at RAF Northolt informed by the experience of operating 6 other nurseries based on MoD sites.
